Stormy Daniels is losing both camera time and traction in her current legal battle against President Trump, and now, she just pulled a move that shows how truly desperate for attention she’s become.
Now, Daniels is suing Trump for defamation based on his tweets where he denies her bogus “sketches” of the man who supposedly threatened her.

Former adult film actress Stormy Daniels filed a defamation lawsuit against President Donald Trump over his tweet criticizing the sketch artist’s rendering of the man who allegedly threatened her over the affair.
According to ABC News, Daniels filed the lawsuit in federal court in New York on Monday and pointed to a tweet that Trump wrote April 18:
A sketch years later about a nonexistent man. A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)! https://t.co/9Is7mHBFda

ABC News reported the filing calls the tweet “false and defamatory” and claims that even though Trump didn’t mention Daniels by name, he was referencing her.
It adds that he “knew that his false, disparaging statement would be read by people around the world, as well as widely reported.” Daniels is seeking a jury trial and unspecified damages.
“We intend on teaching Mr. Trump that you cannot simply make things up about someone and disseminate them without serious consequences,” ABC News reports her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, said.
Former federal prosecutor Renato Mariotti noted on Twitterthat defamation requires a statement to be damaging, and certain false statements, such as lying about someone committing a crime, are “presumed to be damaging.”
However, when it comes to public people, proving defamation comes with further burdens of proof, including proving the person acted “with reckless disregard for the truth”:
9/ Giving an opinion is *not* defamation. So, for example, if you call someone stupid, that is not defamation even if the person is intelligent. Trump’s best defense is that he was offering his opinion as to Daniels’ allegations.

13/ Given how Avenatti wrote the lawsuit, it doesn’t appear they have evidence Trump knew about the man who allegedly threatened Daniels. They believe that he must have known because the man was acting on behalf of Trump and/or Cohen. That will make this an uphill battle. /end

Mariotti noted that even if the lawsuit is an uphill battle, it’s a smart tactical move because it keeps Daniels and her lawyer in the public eye, even as her main suit has been postponed for at least 90 days.
“But as a purely legal matter, her lawsuit would have to overcome many obstacles to succeed. I doubt it could,” he tweeted.
