Do The Right Thing actor Paul Benjamin passed away.
A South Carolina native, Benjamin got his start acting in Shakespeare plays in New York and appeared for the first time on the big-screen as a bartender in Midnight Cowboy.
In the 70s, he appeared in a featured role in Across 110th Street as well as Blaxploitation films like The Education of Sonny Carson and Friday Foster starring Pam Grier.
He also appeared in Richard Pryor’s Some Kind of Hero, Escape from Alcatraz starring Clint Eastwood as well as Maya Angelou’s I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings.
He was believed to be 84 at the time of his death.
